CFA UK represents investment professionals in the UK and promotes the highest standards of ethics, education and professional excellence in society’s best interest. We are part of the worldwide network of member societies of CFA Institute, the global, not-for-profit association of investment professionals, that awards the CFA and CIPM designations.
Who are CFA UK’s Members?
Our members are drawn from across the UK’s investment sector, working for asset owners, investment managers, investment consultants and the companies that serve them. Most of our members work for institutional investment managers that invest pension schemes’, insurance companies’ and foundations’ assets. Our members work primarily as portfolio managers and analysts but also across other front office and middle office roles.
How does green finance affect them?
It is not possible for investment professionals to value securities correctly or to represent clients’ interests properly if they do not understand the importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and unless they can integrate those factors into their investment decision-making processes.
What is CFA UK doing to support its members?
We are working to educate our members about green finance, providing them with networks and content to build and share their skills and knowledge, informing them about key regulatory and policy developments and representing their views on green finance to policymakers and regulators. CFA UK is the awarding body for the Certificate in ESG Investing and is developing an equivalent qualification on climate and investment.

Find out more about our support for the Green Finance Education Charter:

Will Goodhart, chief executive, CFA UK said:
Clients expect investment professionals to be able to integrate ESG factors into their investment decision-making because of their materiality. Increasingly, clients also expect investment professionals to adjust their investment decision-making processes to reflect climate change and its consequent risks and opportunities. Being a signatory to the Green Finance Education Charter helps us to work with other professional bodies – in the UK and elsewhere – to support the role of the finance sector in addressing the challenges of climate change and allocating capital to support the transition to net zero economies.
