Green Finance Institute appoints Sir Jonathan Taylor as new board chair

| July 8London, 8 July 2025 – The Green Finance Institute (GFI), which creates and scales innovative green finance solutions for global markets, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sir Jonathan Taylor as the Chair of its Board of Directors. His three-year term is effective 8 July.
Sir Jonathan, a former development banker and policy maker, brings to the GFI deep experience in financial services and in infrastructure, climate and environment finance. He succeeds Acting Chair Emma Kane who will remain on the Board as Deputy Chair, and former esteemed Chairs Emma Howard-Boyd CBE, and the late Sir Roger Gifford.

Sir Jonathan is a non-executive director at the Scottish National Investment Bank, serving since its establishment in 2020. He was Vice President of the European Investment Bank from 2013-2018, the largest multilateral development bank in the world by volume and he led the growth and development of the Bank’s climate and environmental business. Sir Jonathan previously served as a Director General at HM Treasury and in a range of other senior roles.

In his new role, Sir Jonathan will work closely with fellow board members including Christopher Hayward, Dame Elizabeth Corley, Emma Kane, Irem Yerdelen and Jeff Twentyman.
