The Green Finance Institute (GFI) has partnered with Finance Earth and The Crown Estate to develop a Marine and Coastal Natural Capital Projects Investment Readiness Toolkit which is now open for consultation. The partners have published initial guidance, found below, and invite stakeholders to share feedback and resources that will support the development of the full Toolkit, scheduled for launch in March 2026.

This initial guidance draws on the High Integrity Marine Natural Capital Markets in the UK: A Roadmap for Action, developed by Finance Earth and Pollination. Both the guidance and the forthcoming Toolkit adapt GFI’s Investment Readiness Toolkit for marine and coastal projects, outlining eight practical milestones for developing investment-ready marine and coastal natural capital projects in the UK – from early scoping and stakeholder engagement through to financial modelling, risk management, and closing transactions.

We invite project developers, corporates and investors engaged in marine natural capital projects to contribute feedback, resources and case studies to help shape the Toolkit. If you are interested in taking part, please complete the survey below.

If you are interested in providing additional feedback or being featured as a case study in the Toolkit, please email us at hive@gfi.green with ‘Marine Toolkit’ in the subject line.
